Overview for QP students - Practical Experience Competence Grid
The competency-based Practical Experience Framework, which defines the types of skills that individuals should acquire during the period of practical experience before becoming a member of the Institute, has become mandatory for all the Institute's registered students on 1 January 2005.
QP students have to demonstrate different Technical Competences depending on their role in the work environment and demonstrate all Enabling Competences which underpin the roles and behaviours required of the professional accountants in any accounting-related role or position.
1. Technical Competence:
QP students are provided with the opportunities to demonstrate Technical Competences in 18 elements categorized into 6 broad areas as follows. QP students are required to satisfy the competence requirements for 4 out of the 18 technical elements. One of which must be in the area of Financial Accounting and Reporting while the other three elements can be chosen from the remaining 17 elements.
2. Enabling Competence:
All Enabling Competences are compulsory. The Enabling Competences cover two areas and seven elements, which are illustrated in the table below.
