Greater Bay Area Committee

 

The development of the Greater Bay Area ("GBA") is China's key national strategy. The unveiling of the official blueprint for the GBA, the Outline Development Plan, in February 2019 is one of the critical milestones of the strategy. Governments, professional bodies, industries, and business communities are proactively responding to the Plan to take forward the development of the GBA for the betterment of the society. The Institute, with membership covering a wide spectrum of interest, has the position and ability to bring together a wide range of stakeholders and is well placed to help the accountancy profession to explore opportunities in the GBA.

 

Terms of Reference

   
1. To provide views, advice and recommendations on the Institute's policies, strategies, priorities and resources allocation in support of the role of the accountancy profession in the Outline Development Plan.
   
2. To utilize the expertise and knowledge of committee members to identify and advice on specific issues or areas of work that are of particular relevance and importance to the Institute and its members.
   
3. To monitor the activities and policies of Greater Bay Area (GBA) Initiative at governmental and business levels, in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland, and assess the impact on the accountancy profession in order to shape the Institute's position and responses to the specific activities and policies.
   
4. To coordinate with other committees on GBA related initiatives, plans and activities to ensure consistency of the Institute’s brand and GBA strategy/approach as well efficiency of resources utilisation.
   
5. To promote the Institute's GBA related events/ activities, contribute ideas to the event themes, topics and speakers as well as agenda formulation to ensure the accountancy profession is presented and influential in activities underpinning the development of the GBA.
   
6. To provide insights and identify current and developing issues that may be suitable topics for the Institute to organize CPD and educational events and/ or conduct research and other thought leadership projects.
   
7. To consider any other issues that are relevant to the Institute's GBA development strategies as assigned by Council from time to time.
