Major enhancements to the QP you should know about

As we enter the 25^th anniversary of the Institute’s QP, we are happy to reaffirm our commitment to making the accounting profession more attractive and increasing the flexibility of the QP.

By engaging with diverse audiences — from planting the seeds in secondary schools, to hosting QP talks for university students and young professionals — we have successfully reached over 20,000 individuals through more than 100 events in the past 18 months. This outreach has resulted in a rise in enrolments for our QP exams. Moreover, enhanced student support has resulted in improved exam passing rates among recent cohorts. Our goal is to strengthen the community and support talent in accounting.

Enhanced student support

We know that juggling examination preparations can be stressful, but with the right kind of support, students can achieve remarkable results.

The Masterclass

We are delighted to share students who participated in our recent Masterclass achieved higher passing rates than their peers on their Professional Module Examinations, a clear indication of the value and impact of this condensed revision course.

Details on how to enrol and participate are shared through email communications in May and November each year.

The List of Current Hot Topics

The List of Current Hot Topics is a popular tool that we will continue to offer for Professional Modules Examinations. This List provides insights and guidance on the latest trends and developments in the QP and is available on the Noticeboard of the QP Learning Centre by May and November each year

Other Examination Support

In addition to the Masterclass and the list of current hot topics, we offer a wide range of resources in the QP Learning Centre to help students excel in the QP examinations.

To help students better prepare for the QP journey ahead, all registered students are now granted access to learning materials for the Associate, Professional, and Capstone levels. These materials have been made available on the respective module pages on the QP Learning Centre.

Initiatives to facilitate advancement

The QP is constantly improving to serve prospective CPAs better. The following criteria have been relaxed to aid student progression while maintaining the programme’s quality.

Module Exemptions

In the past, students who failed the Associate Modules Exams couldn’t get exemptions through a conversion programme. This requirement has now been relaxed to allow our students more flexibility in their studies.

Practical Experience

Students can now count up to 12 months of prior work experience towards the practical experience requirement for the QP before registering as a QP student. This allows a head start on the required practical experience.

Exciting updates ahead

Computer-based examinations

We are excited to announce our new computer-based exam format will be tentatively launching in phases starting in 2025 commencing with Associate Module Examinations. More details soon.

Going paperless

As part of our commitment to achieving Net Zero, we will be moving to a fully paperless learning model starting from the June 2025 session. All the electronic study materials will be available to download with no physical learning packs distributed. During the transition, a limited amount of physical packs will be available for purchase by order from January 2025.

In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, this will allow us to empower you with a more dynamic and up-to-date learning experience. We appreciate your understanding and continued support for a sustainable future.

Certificate in Accounting and Business

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide students with increased flexibility, we are introducing an additional formal checkpoint for the QP journey, the Certificate in Accounting and Business. This certificate will offer students the chance to demonstrate their progress and gain recognition for their achievements along the way. Please stay tuned for more details to be followed later this year.
