Dear members and students,
The Institute has been made aware of recent cases where inaccurate information has been communicated to the public regarding the requirements in obtaining the HKICPA membership via mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) between HKICPA and other professional accountancy bodies. The Institute would like to remind persons who wish to join the HKICPA membership under MRAs to pay careful attention to the stipulated prerequisites and requirements, which include but are not limited to:
- Location where the person’s university degree was obtained
- Location where the student membership/ professional examination with the parent Institute was obtained/ completed
- Timing of student registration and completion of professional examination with the parent Institute
- The non-exempt parts of the Institute’s examinations to require completion
- The practical work experience required.
Full details for obtaining the HKICPA membership through MRAs can be found in the Guide to membership of the Institute and the Institute’s website. We hope this message has been helpful and look forward to welcoming more talents to this prestigious profession.
