Membership renewal for 2025 has been launched! Members who wish to renew their membership are required to submit a signed CPD declaration as part of their renewal application. Have you done yours yet?

To assist you in fulfilling your CPD requirements, we’ve put together a refresher covering essential information here. This includes the requirements themselves, tips on tracking your CPD, the CPD compliance audit, and resources available to help you meet your CPD needs.

Why CPD matters

CPD is intended to develop and maintain members’ professional competence necessary to perform their roles as a professional accountant throughout their career and thereby to strengthen public confidence and trust in the profession. It is therefore paramount that member's comply with the requirements.

Here's a refresher on what the CPD requirements are:

Complete at least 120 hours (including 60 verifiable hours) of relevant professional development activities in each rolling three-year period*;
Complete at least 20 hours of relevant professional development activities annuallly; and
Maintain appropriate records of all CPD activities completed in each rolling three-year period, for a minimum of 5 years.

Relevant CPDs are those that align with the responsibilities of a member’s role and helps to develop and maintain the professional competence necessary to perform that role.

* Members who undertake the role of Responsible Person of registered Public Interest Entity auditors, Engagement Partner, and/or Specialist Designation holder must fulfill specified CPD requirements as part of the existing total requirements in each rolling three-year period.

Keep track of your CPD records

It is important to keep a record of your CPD activities to ensure you meet the requirements. The Institute provides a CPD record keeping platform to help members manage their records in a user-friendly and efficient way. Simply click the "CPD Activity summary" tab under "Development" after logging in to MyCPA.

CPD compliance audit is necessary to ensure members comply with CPD requirements. If selected, members will be asked to produce records of all CPD activities completed with sufficient documentary evidence to support the verifiable CPD activities.

Members who are found non-compliant with CPD requirements in the audit will have a higher chance of being selected for audit again in the next year. Members who do not pass the audit, or are found to have serious or repeated non-compliance will likely be ineligible for membership renewal.
