Survey and dedicated webpage on the Further Reform of Regulatory Regime of Accounting Profession (14 July 2021)

Dear members and students,

Subsequent to the Government’s announcement about the “Further Reform of Regulatory Regime of Accounting Profession” (the Reform proposals), the Institute has been making every effort to keep members informed about developments.

A new webpage has been set up on the Reform, which brings together relevant information to help members understand the proposals and the potential consequences for the Institute and its members. This includes links to the recordings of the two members’ forums featuring representatives from the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and the Financial Reporting Council, and the emails issued on 11 June and 21 June 2021.

Survey on the Reform proposals

The Institute believes there should be wider consultation to ensure that all views are collected and considered. It is therefore important for us to hear your views and concerns about the Reform proposals so that we can effectively represent them when commenting on the draft legislation and discussing transitional arrangements.

A survey has been developed to gauge the views of members and registered Qualification Programme students. Given the significant proposed changes and the far-reaching consequences of the reform, all members and students are encouraged to complete the survey.

How to complete the survey

Before taking the survey, you should first read all the information on the new webpage.

After reading all the information, access the survey using this link (login required). The survey should take no more than 20 minutes and is on an anonymous basis. The survey does not have to be completed in one go. Your progress will be automatically saved and you can log in again to complete the survey or to change your answers. Once the survey is completed and submitted, the link cannot be used again. The survey will close on
4 August 2021. The results and findings will be announced in due course.
